Caption: This zoomed in image from the High Resolution Instrument shows particles swirling in a "snow storm" around the nucleus of comet Hartley 2. From these images we can estimate the size of the particles and we use a combination of other data to determine that these are icy particles rather than dust. Although the largest particles are golfball to basketball sized, they are very porous and fluffy.
