Ice in the Coma of Hartley 2
Click for larger image.Caption: Water ice is seen in the coma of Hartley 2. The spectrum of ice creates an absorption signature in the spectrum marked by the three vertical blue bars. In addition to the Hartley 2 spectrum, laboratory spectra of water ice are shown for different particle sizes. The best match to the Hartley 2 spectrum is water ice with micron sized particles.
